Shelby Farms Park: Elevating a City commemorates the creation of one of America’s great urban parks and celebrates the civic spirit and ambition that made it possible for Memphis.”
This definitive volume is about the improbable journey that took forty-five hundred acres from a working prison farm to being declared government surplus property to its transformation to a celebrated 21st century park. It’s the story of how a park can elevate a city’s confidence in itself, create common ground where a diverse community can come together and leverage green assets as competitive advantages for a vibrant city.
The book, which is published by Susan Schadt Press, will be on sale beginning Saturday, November 18 in the Lake’s Edge Gift Shop located in the Park’s First Tennessee Foundation Visitor Center and on Tuesday, November 21 at novel. bookstore. The book is also available for purchase through multiple online booksellers. Proceeds from sales of the book will benefit Shelby Farms Park.
