    The strength and balance class will be a 45 minute class designed for seniors and people with type 2 diabetes. Participants will work with light hand weights, resistance bands and small inflatable balls. Class will start with a brief warm-up followed by strength training and light cardio, finishing with a cool down and stretch.

    Get Outside! Strength + Balance is part of Shelby Farms Park's Get Outside! Fitness Programs. This project is funded under a Grant Contract with the State of Tennessee.

    Relieve stress and increase flexibility by participating in Tai Chi classes led by a certified instructor Richard Link, a Senior Trainer at Tai Chi for Health Institute. Tai Chi is an ancient practice that is enjoyable and safe for every fitness level. The slow, meditative movements of Tai Chi increase strength, range of motion and coordination. Classes can be enjoyed either sitting or standing. Comfortable shoes and loose clothing are recommended. Please bring a personal water bottle.

    Get Outside! Tai Chi is part of Shelby Farms Park's Get Outside! Fitness Programs. This project is funded under a Grant Contract with the State of Tennessee.

    This fitness class is a combination of strength training and conditioning designed to increase power, muscular endurance, cardiovascular fitness, and coordination while building muscle and burning fat. Equipment such as medicine balls, resistance bands and weight bars are used to target each participant’s ability. Come experience overall improved fitness while being coached by trainers from NBS Fitness in Memphis.

    Join us at the FREE FIT4MOM Run Club community meet-ups! We welcome moms of all stages, as well as friends, family members and kids of all ages. Our FIT4MOM Run Club 'Coach' will lead you in a family friendly warm-up, then lead a self-paced 2-mile run to meet your skill level. A 1-mile kid fun run will also be set up at each community meet-up for all the little aspiring runners. 

    FIT4MOM Memphis Run Club community meet-ups will take place August - early November on the 2nd and 4th Saturday of the month at Shelby Farms Park. The group will meet at the Woodland Discovery Playground for the run and plan to stay afterwards to hangout with other families at the playground. All runs are stroller friendly. Come RUN with us!!

    Strength training and general conditioning

    This fitness class is a combination of strength training and conditioning designed to increase power, muscular endurance, cardiovascular fitness, and coordination while building muscle and burning fat. Equipment such as medicine balls, resistance bands and weight bars are used to target each participant’s ability. Come experience overall improved fitness while being coached by trainers from NBS Fitness in Memphis.

    When:  Fridays at 12pm - Classes will resume on January 12, 2018.

    The strength and balance class will be a 45 minute class designed for seniors and people with type 2 diabetes. Participants will work with light hand weights, resistance bands and small inflatable balls. Class will start with a brief warm-up followed by strength training and light cardio, finishing with a cool down and stretch.

    Relieve stress and increase flexibility by participating in Tai Chi classes led by a certified instructor Richard Link, a Senior Trainer at Tai Chi for Health Institute. Tai Chi is an ancient practice that is enjoyable and safe for every fitness level. The slow, meditative movements of Tai Chi increase strength, range of motion and coordination. Classes can be enjoyed either sitting or standing. Comfortable shoes and loose clothing are recommended. Please bring a personal water bottle.
