Visitor Center Rental Rules and Building Use Criteria

Multiple Reservations

If there are two separate reservations in the Visitor Center, use of tables and chairs are given to the party whose reservation was made first (first come/first served). If there are any tables and chairs remaining, the second party is allowed to use the remainder.

Chairs and Tables

There are 105 chairs, fifteen rectrangular tables rectangular tables (8'x3') which can seat 10 people,  seven round tables (60" diameter) which can seat eight people and two board room tables (8'x4') available for use to parties reserving either room at the Visitors Center. The larger room accommodates 80 people in a dinner style setting. The smaller room seats 48 people in a dinner style arrangement.

Clean-up Deposit

The clean-up deposit will be returned if the room(s) is left in the condition it was found: floors free of trash and debris, decorations removed, trash place in garbage bags in the outside garbage cans and the kitchen left clean. Any areas used by the party must be left clean, undamaged and in order. This is including, but not limited to, the restrooms, kitchen, patios and/or hallways.

 

Kitchen

The kitchen is available to the reserved party and may be shared if there is more than one event in the building. The kitchen is not a full-service facility, and only prepared food is allowed. No cooking or grilling on the patio or lawn areas surrounding the Visitors Center is permitted.

 

Balloons

Latex balloons are allowed but mylar balloons are not allowed due to a motion detector in the security system.

 

Smoke Machines

Smoke or fog machines are not allowed due to the smoke detector in the security system.

 

Guardians and Minors

Parents or guardians are expected to monitor and control any minors during a given event and are responsible for any damages caused by minors in attendance.

 

Sideswalks and Lawn

No driving or parking is allowed on sidewalks or lawn areas.

 

Alcohol

Alcohol may be served--an insurance certificate and ABC accredited bar tender are needed.

 

Park Closing Time

Park closing varies with sunset times.  Rental starts from the moment the first person arrives, be it caterer or guest, and ends when the last person leaves.  There is a per hour fee if the event continues after the Park closes.

 

Building Use Criteria

Use of board and/or Education Room will be limited to activities suited to the facility and at the discretion of Shelby Farms Park Conservancy.

Use of kitchen will be limited to previously prepared foods as the kitchen is not set up for cooking.  Kitchen can be shared if there is more than one event in the building.
