Position: Executive Director

Description: Shelby Park Farms Conservancy is searching for an Executive Director who, with the Board of Directors, will provide leadership, vision, and oversight to the development and operations of Shelby Farms Park. The Park, consisting of 4,500 acres located in the heart of the Memphis metro area, has the potential of becoming one of the greatest urban parks in the country.
The Executive Director is responsible for implementing the capital development plan, overseeing park operations and maintenance, and a communicating the Park’s master plan to groups and individuals having diverse interests.  The Executive Director will provide leadership to park staff, manage external relationships, and actively participate in fund-raising activities.

The ideal candidate will:
•    possess the vision and creativity to recognize the Park’s potential as a community and economic development engine;
•    have had previous leadership responsibility in a complex business, community, or non-profit organization;
•    have been successful  in significant fund-raising efforts;
•    be experienced in project management (e.g. construction, marketing, development);
•    be experienced in developing and implementing strategic initiatives representing multiple constituencies;
•    possess a bachelor’s degree in an appropriate discipline, with an advanced degree preferred.
