Enjoy an Enchanting Night at the GreenShoe Gala

    MEMPHIS, Tennessee, April 1, 2008 – It will be a magical night at Shelby Farms Park on Friday, April 18 at the annual GreenShoe Gala. Lovers of Shelby Farms Park can dance the night away, enjoy a sumptuous organic meal and watch the sun go down from a beautifully decorated tent overlooking Patriot Lake.
    “The GreenShoe Gala is a wonderful event,” said Sheila Wilson, event coordinator, GreenShoe Gala. “We have the best view in the city and people can enjoy a wonderful dinner, live music and even pretend to be Cinderella when we auction off a ‘green’ shoe.”

Master Plan Exhibition Dates Announced!

Some of the world's most talented park planners and landscape architects are competing to help Shelby Farms Park reach its potential as America's next great 21st century park.  And we want you to share your thoughts on their initial designs.  

Make plans to view one of the master plan exhibitions during the month of March so your opinions can be shared.  To get more information, or to view the designs and comment by completing an online survey, check the Shelby Farms Park Conservancy web site March 6-31.

Shelby Farms Park Visitor Center

Cossitt Library 

 

Exhibit includes video, renderings and presentation boards.  Scale models of each design will be at the Central Library March 6-15 and at Shelby Farms Park March 17-31.

Three National Firms Chosen as Finalists in Master Plan Competition

The Shelby Farms Park Conservancy has announced three nationally accomplished parks master plan design firms that will participate in a competition to develop an overall plan for the
future of Shelby Farms Park.

The environmentally sensitive design, funded by Shelby County Government and a matching grant from TDEC, is fully ADA accessible, and will replace the current facility near the Plough Park area of Shelby Farms. "We are excited about this project for many reasons," said lead designer Juan Self of Self Tucker Architects. "First of all, as stewards of the environment, we have incorporated sustainable principles in the design of this important facility."
