What happens if there is inclement weather?
In the event of inclement weather (lightning strikes in the area or high winds that are prohibitive for paddling , our rental locations will close until the area is clear of lightning for 45 minutes or until prohibitive wind conditions subside.  All boats, including canoes and kayaks, must be equipped with one wearable personal flotation device for each person on board.  All persons 12 years or under are required to wear a personal flotation device. According to TWRA regulations, those not following this requirement may be subject to a fine.

Want to launch your own kayak or boat? A boat launch ramp is located on the north edge of the lake in Heart of the Park, just off Great View Drive North. Motorized watercraft are not permitted, but kayaks, canoes, paddleboards, sailboats and other personal watercraft (14 feet or less) are encouraged. Learn more here!
