    The strength and balance class will be a 45 minute class designed for seniors and people with type 2 diabetes. Participants will work with light hand weights, resistance bands and small inflatable balls. Class will start with a brief warm-up followed by strength training and light cardio, finishing with a cool down and stretch.

    Get Outside! Strength + Balance is part of Shelby Farms Park's Get Outside! Fitness Programs. This project is funded under a Grant Contract with the State of Tennessee.

    Relieve stress and increase flexibility by participating in Tai Chi classes led by a certified instructor Richard Link, a Senior Trainer at Tai Chi for Health Institute. Tai Chi is an ancient practice that is enjoyable and safe for every fitness level. The slow, meditative movements of Tai Chi increase strength, range of motion and coordination. Classes can be enjoyed either sitting or standing. Comfortable shoes and loose clothing are recommended. Please bring a personal water bottle.

    Join us for a family fun hike!

    Led by a Shelby Farms Park Interpretive Docent, these family fun hikes are great educational recreation for adults and children of all ages! Reservations are not required, but donations are appreciated.Please remember your walking shoes, appropriate outdoor clothing, and water bottles! Due to the tripping hazard, please leave your pet at home. Please meet at the Shelby Farms Park Visitor Center. 

    Monthly on the 2nd Sunday from 2pm-3pm
